General League Information

JUNIOR JAZZ LEAGUE RULES CAN BE FOUND HERE

The Jr. Jazz program is a great way for youth to learn the fundamentals of basketball with an emphasis on fun and fair play. The Rookie League is for Kindergarten and 1st-2nd graders, which focuses on learning the rules and fundamentals of basketball. The Jr. Jazz league is for grades 3-8.

Our league focuses on and promotes the "recreation" aspect of youth sports (see Youth Programs Mission & Goals below, as applicable to all youth programs):

  • League is programmed in various aspects in an effort to promote FUN over wins and losses.
  • Teams are compiled as a result of many variables, but specifically: reported skill level, current age and school.
  • There are no playoffs, standings, or league champions.
    • We do keep score and consequently indicate who wins and losses, but this information is not published after the fact.
  •  Coaches are committed to:
    • Ensure all players play equal amounts of time, and have a fair opportunity to learn every position, if desired.
    • Promote good sportsmanship.
    • Respect other coaches, players, staff members and officials.
  • Playes MAY NOT PLAY DOWN FROM THEIR GRADE/AGE LEVEL, but may PLAY UP if they are capable and desire to do so.

As part of the Winter Jr. Jazz/Rookie League Season, each participant receives the following:

  • Jr. Jazz Jersey
  • Invitation to Jr. Jazz Tip-off Party (pending availability, determined by Jr. Jazz organization)
  • Post-Season Lead together party  (pending availability, determined by Jr. Jazz organization)
  • 8 Game Basketball Season
  • Two tickets per participant for one Jazz game that season (winter season only).
