Freestyles

Freestyle sessions are designated ice sessions for individual figure skating practice, although general skating and/or hockey skating practice is permitted (no sticks or pucks). Note that training and/or coaching is permitted during these sessions, please note the rates, if applicable. CHRC does not provide skates for any Freestyle Sessions.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS REGARDING FREESTYLES: 

The annual figure skating competition Oktoberfest will be held Thursday, September 19th - Sunday, September 22nd, 2024. There will be no freestyle sessions during Oktoberfest scheduled ice times. For availability of freestyle sessions, please visit ACTIVITYREG

RATES

Pre-Pay Rate (CHRC Member): $6/session

Pre-Pay Rate (Non-CHRC Member): $7/session

Day of Rate: $2 additional premium

Visiting Coaches - $15/coach/session - Visiting coaches are not allowed to pay the daily rate below and must pay per session. 

Daily Rate: In-House Pros: $12/day; Invited Pros: $18/day. Must be contracted with CHRC to be approved for this rate. All other coaches must pay per session. 

Freestyle registration opens the 3rd Friday of the month, for the upcoming month. To view available slots, please visit ACTIVITY REG.

Cancellation >2 hours in advance: full credit, can be dropped on ActivityReg for no fee

Cancellations or changes <2 hours in advance: 50% credit only

Cancellations or changes after session start: NO refunds or credits

Regardless of age all participates must pay and register for a freestyle session

Skaters must have their own skates, as CHRC does not provide skates for freestyle sessions.

RULES FOR FREESTYLE SESSIONS

  • Please check in with the monitor before stepping on the ice.
  • Skaters 8 years of age or younger must have a parent/guardian or Skate Pro present, in order to get on the ice.
  • The Golden Rule is always in effect! Treat those around you as you wish to be treated.
  • Be cautious and alert at all times.
  • Skaters performing their program with their music have the “Right of Way”.
  •  Spins should be practiced near the middle of the ice. 
  • After falling, get up immediately. If you are injureD, notify someone immediately for assistance.
  •  No kicking the ice.
  •  No yelling or offensive language.
  • Skaters must keep moving unless receiving instruction from a pro. 
  • Pro’s can “bump” music.
  • NO Food or drink rink side. Water bottles with lids are allowed, as well as tissue boxes.
  •  NO sitting on the hockey side boards.
  • Remember that the ice monitor or any skating Professional can remove you from the ice.

 

Refunds and Credits

  • REFUNDS/CREDITS:  
    • Skaters who wish to cancel or change their session reservation may do so through their online account, and will receive 100% credit if done more than 2 hours in advance of the session start time.
    • For cancellation requests less than two hours before session start, but previous to session start, please contact preston@cottonwoodheights.com
  • COACHES
    • If you are training players specific to your organization, or you're otherwise being paid to train players, you must pay this rate per session; a parent/guardian of a skater that is simply practicing with their child may register as a normal skater for these sessions.
